Just moments ago we were notified that Steve French of Volt Vision was selected as a finalist for Northwest Savings Bank’s Switch Search/My Switch Story promotion.  As a finalist, Frenchy wins a Flip minoHD videocamera and is assigned a personal casting director to help shoot his HD Switch Story in hopes of becoming the star of NWSB’s next commercial!  This is exciting because it is an opportunity for Volt Vision and NWSB to publicize their synergistic relationship!  Check out our winning video submission here…

Tonight marks the end of one of the most inspirational trips of my life. I presented several conferences and hands-on workshops @ Universidad Galileo in Guatemala for FIT2011 on the topic of designing with LEDs and designing the intelligent networked lighting systems of tomorrow. I spoke to students of electrical and software engineering. These students blew me away. Not only were they all extremely helpful and unconditionally polite, but they have a determination and a work ethic which easily beats anything that I have seen before. The response was overwhelming. I had a very large number of students approach me with excitement and passion in their eyes because they realized that they too can explore, define and create exciting and really cool new products…things which have never been done before…things which can change the world for the better. I have 30 students who are anxiously awaiting the upcoming Volt Vision Educational Kits. Strangely, most of them even wanted their picture taken with me. For a brief moment I almost felt like a rock star… Let’s make the world a better place. Let’s inspire and help each other. OK?

Volt Vision is very excited to announce that we will again be collaborating with SitlerHQ to put on a 3week interactive lighting installation at the beautiful Buffalo Botanical Gardens in February 2012!! Last years event was very well attended, with great word of mouth viral marketing. There were approximately 5,000 paid attendees coming through within a 3 weekend period (and this is during the Buffalo Blizzard Season, during a 1st year event with minimal advertising!!). As a final cherry on top, Doug Sitler just told me that they are using one of the “Night Lights at the Gardens” pictures from 2011 on the front page of the new Buffalo telephone book!!

This quick little video is the 3-foot diameter Volt Vision color changing globe, which was one of many different interactive lighting exhibits.    This globe was created with Volt Vision prototype circuit boards that have not become consumer products (yet). In 2012 you can expect many new forms of interactivity with the lighting!!!
